Adventures in the Lord

This past Thursday, Nick and I drove up to the North Shore and spent most of the day there. When SG was here, we went driving around the North side and found this little antique-like shop on the side of the road. Nick and I decided to head back to that place and see what else they had. We found glass buoys (Nick has been looking for these for a while). Can you believe that as you walk in the door you see this sign: There we are getting a shave ice in Haleiwa. Here is us on the way to our friends BBQ...Man I love that guy. I have been so encouraged to be getting comments and phone calls/ emails from so many people! Thank you so much! The Lord is using it to keep me up and joyful. :D

Nick and I were so blessed with a wonderful last week together. One part of that happened on Wednesday. We got up and has some breakfast, then he turned to me and said, "Babe, let's go for a hike!" We got our gear on and jumped in the Tacoma. Nick had talked about a hike he went on with some people from work a few weeks ago. He described it, "you are walking on a 2 foot wide path with shear cliff on either side" - and he wasn't kidding! As we drove to the East side of the island, Nick pointed to the cliff we would be climbing! (I think the one we climbed is the one to the left) We park a 3-minute walk away from the entrance to this country club. The man at the gate waved us right in, he must of known where we were headed. You follow the paved road until you see an opening into the forest to your left. It is like we transported into the middle of Cambodia or Indonesia. Well... This morning I drove Nick to the Coast Guard base on Sand Island, to the Jarvis, where he will be spending the next 90 days. With a kiss goodbye and a northface bag in tow, he headed up the stairs and onto his 378-foot, new yet temporary home. Nick and I had the most amazing last week together (I will have to post some pictures of those adventures tomorrow). The Lord truly brought comfort to us both and we have so many wonderful memories, just from this past week! After a handful of encouraging and confirming phone calls, I got excited that this new chapter in our relationship has begun. The unknown adventures that lie ahead uplift my heart b ecause we have the hope that He who promised is Faithful and this Hope is an anchor to our soul, a hope both sure and steadfast . (Hebrews 10:23 and 6:19) An "anchor" to the soul...think about that one for a while. _sending love_

So here are a few things we did the past two weeks.  Yes we know what your all thinking "Great more pictures of the beach", well we promise you we are going to change it up, although keep in mind we do live on an island no bigger than Santa Barbara County.                                                                                -Nick Hanauma Bay- This place was place was classic, Becky and I thought we were just going to be able to walk down to the beach and relax...Wrong ! Turns out this bay is a protected marine sanctuary,and after two toll booths ,one mandatory educational film screening, and a five minute wait in line just for them to stamp "SUCKER"on our forehead, we finally made it to the beach. Last night Nick and I got to have a little ichat session with some of our family in Santa Barbara. It was such a treat!! It is like they were sitting in their living room on the other side of the computer screen, all of us laughing and catching up (the jokes were just the same as if we were all sitting at the dinner table).  While talking with them, I received a little reprimand that i was not blogging enough...that they check this blog three times a day...so this one's for you - you know who you are. :D :D love you SO much!! (ps: once nick is gone, I will be blogging three times a day!)

Nick found out this week that all our furniture will be arriving here on July 17th! (a little sad it is not coming earlier, but have to remember to Praise God that the Coast Guard is shipping it for us.) The other update is that the Jarvis is preparing to push out to sea on Sunday, June 29th. I cannot believe it is happening next week. Nick will have Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday off work, so I am hoping to try and get a day off too so we can have another adventure together before he leaves. The Lord is good no matter the circumstances. And He is going to see us through this one!! (really gonna need His strength). Love you all!! I know so many woman who are incredibly gifted cooks. Since I am now a 5 hour flight away, I realize how blessed I was to have experienced their cooking and hospitality!!  Their love, their eye for detail and easy tips have encouraged me in my own cooking for our family of two!  I am especially grateful for the times I had with them the few weeks before I got married. I felt so loved during that time! A simple waffle breakfast (with greek yogurt and organic fruit jam -unparalleled!), a stop by this house for an amazing lunch, left over dinner at "home" that was always out of this world, a little dinner party with my closest friends (and Favorite menu!) - I am so blessed by those who use that gift of hospitality.  My husband would not be well fed if it was not for you and your recipes! Since Nick and I left so quickly after the wedding, we only were able to take a few gifts in our luggage with us. One of which was a large, flat white envelope. I was very curious to see what w...

The boat is pulling into port as I type - Then he will be home!  Here are some pictures that I took the last few days and wanted to share. Yeah for the weekend!! Here is the beach by our house - walked out there Wednesday morning to see if the boat was out there (he was not though, as you can read about in my last post "Test Drive" Thursday is rained quite a bit- that tropical rain where it will randomly downpour, then lightly sprinkle. This picture was from Thursday. I think that is Nick's boat way out there, but you can barely see it way out there! I mentioned yesterday that Nick's boat and crew are doing a test drive with their boat, making sure everything is working properly. Yesterday Nick went to work as usual and I got a text message at around 5:00PM saying they had not pushed off yet. Then at 7:45 PM I got a text message saying "We are here, come out so you can see!". So I grab Nick's huge flash light, my cell phone, the house keys and walk down the street to the beach. As I walk onto the sand, I look all over and cannot see the boa t ! I mean 378 feet is pretty big  (I started questioning the quality of my eye-sight). I point the flast light out onto the water, scanning to the right and left, then my phone rings! It's Nick and it is really windy on his end, "Hi babe! Are you carrying a flash light?" "Yes! That's me!...but I can't see you!", he says "point it more to your right...a little more...a little more" and at this point I am pointing the flash light direct...

Happy Wednesday. First of all, I need to say, it is incredible how I have been so encouraged and uplifted by seeing pictures of friends and family from home, getting little IMs, and email so far this week. I love that you are all just an email and blog picture away...Thank you Lord! Okay..back to some Adventure ;) I wanted to give you a little weekend update. This past Sunday after church we hiked up Diamond head! Diamond head is this huge crater that was used by the military way back when (now it is a state park). We can actually see it from our house. In order to get to the top, you first hike up a path that takes you to this tunnel carved directly through the crater rock. Once you make it through there,  you climb a "stadium like" set of stairs and enter this spiral staircase with cobwebs and wind blowing up the center:  (it was hard to silence the Indiana Jones theme song in my head at this point) At the top, you come out to the top of this bunker and see whe...

Today is my sister's Birthday...my new sister :) - New because we have only been sisters officially for a month (although we have been that close for a while now...) I love you so much!! I can't wait to see your smiling face in person (which is going to happen sooner rather than later)! I get so excited every time I think of her because she is on the brink of an incredible Adventure with the Lord. That season of preparation and seeing the Lord open doors that you never thought would open... It is the most exciting time when you know He is in control of it all! PLUS the Lord knows the desires of our heart, even before we know them! and so He gives us good gifts, "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him" (1 corinthians2:9).  So He m ust have good things in store! Please know that I am praying for you about Everything!

All of our stuff is finally being shipped out to us here in Oahu!! Nick and I have been "camping with a roof" as Nick says for the last month and a half and have enjoyed every minute of it. But the Coast Guard is picking up all our stuff in California today and shipping it to us!  I cannot believe how blessed we are and how much fun stuff we are getting! Now "all of our stuff" includes furniture, clothes, and all our wedding gifts - most of which we have not seen yet!!!   These pictures were just sent to me... Look at all that stuff! Oh my, I am so excited!! And who are the amazing people that are working all day today to get all our stuff to the movers? Yes, my new Dellar family and their amazingly loving hearts!!  So in about one month, you will see a huge post with me, so excited to get all our stuff into our home here! When Nick and I got home yesterday, we saw a little Fedex package next to our door...I opened it and it was the cutest pair of starfish earrings from my cousin Katie!! :) We used starfish all throughout our wedding (invitations, favors, deco) so she got these for me! She works at a jewelry store, so I call and ask her questions about how to care for my wedding ring, so she sent me some jewelry cleaner too. isnt she the sweetest?!?!  Love you Katie!!

We have a desk and a bed! I think tonight we are going to run and get a rug and or some baskets for deco :) It is really incredible that all of our belongings from SB are getting shipped to us here by the Coast Guard - The Lord provided that for us! Once we get some more stuff in our house, it will feel so cozy...and something like home. just wanted to share that little bit with you :)

It is Saturday morning. We leave the house at 0700 hours, headed for the East side of the island, Kualoa Ranch. The ranch views are incredible and a handful of movies have been filmed here including Jurrasic Park, Pearl Harbor, and 50 First Dates. At 0900 hours we jump on some ATVs for a full tour of the ranch and movie sights, particularly where Jurrasic Park was filmed. Then we jumped in this Swiss Army Vehicle (6 wheel off roading jeep that can go anywhere) to tour the other side of the ranch. After driving ATVs and bouncing around in the back of the 6x, we both had a layer of dirt everywhere. We thought it best to go jump in the ocean and wash off. So we continued our journey around the island towards North Shore and jumped in at Sunset Beach, checking the swell at Pipeline (it was really flat, no worries).  Nick's pictures are incredible!
