baby byrd baby shower

Image
Last Saturday, I helped to put together a baby shower for my new friend Laura Byrd. While she was telling me that some of her husband's co-workers started calling her "mama bird", I immediately started scheming and planning a "baby byrd" shower. So, here it is! The preparation... (one of my favorite parts? The iced coffee bar of course!! here are the clean and dirty spoons for coffee and tea.) Let the party begin! "Sweet treats for your flight home"  Had such a great time with this great group of ladies. And I MUST send a big shout out to three of my party consultants who helped me, quite strategically, execute: Mama Bird J  my party planning hero , Bethany "tell me like it is" Kas , and Jess 'the Corn' King . Could not (would not) have done it without you!! Fun food, fun company, fun party all around! ~~~~~~~ Post Script: Allow me to introduce to you the  Chocolate-covered Marshmellow Cookie .  I sa...

Jessica's Baby Shower

Image
My sweet friend Jessica is having her baby, Dorothy Wava King, in December. They call her Dot for short :) - I have asked if I can call her DW because I think that is pretty cute. Christine invited me to co-hosted the shower with her. Here is a quick glimpse of some of the details. Had to show off all those cute clothes! I made all these tissue flowers, and while making them I thought to myself, "It would be so cute if the women used them and put them in their hair..." Okay, I took this with Nick in mind. Honey, I even brought my own matching straws to share! We played a game where you cut yarn trying to guess how long the baby is :) I had never played before. I was not a very complimentary friend! We has a couple happy babies there too! How cute huh? My fellow hostesses - Here is the menu: Chicken Salad Veronique with butter roles ( Recipe here ) I love the green grapes in it and I added toasted almonds - delish. Veggie Strata with cilantro sour cream ( Recipe here ) This ...

13 House Guests

What would be your initial reaction to learning that you will be having 11 junior high kids and 2 adults staying at your house tomorrow night? :) So - Here is my story. Tuesday this week I found out that I would have Thursday off work. The marketing department was going on their annual “outing” and no one would be working that day. I got very excited to have a day off and decided to not make any plans so I could have a day of rest and relaxation J A little backround that helps to make this story great – Sean and Jill Murphy, a very close friends of Nick’s (and now mine!) live with their family in Kona. They help teach in a co-op school (sort of like homeschool, but different parents teach different subjects) with about 11 – 15 other junior high kids. He called me in August saying that the kids and 2 adults would be traveling to Oahu to study up on Hawaiian history and culture. They had called the YWAM base, but there was no room for them to stay, so he wanted to know if they could al...
