little mr or little miss?

Image
Our friends Aubri and Justin are expecting a third addition to their family.  Justin is on the Jarvis too, co-conspirer of  Helm & Anchor . I have been so excited to find out whether they will be having another little mr or little miss. I am on a cupcake kick apparently because when I first heard, I had to make these to take over to her to celebrate the exciting news!

I ran my first 5k!

Image
My goals: 1) to actually run a 5k 2) to do it without stopping (no walking) 3) to do it in under 35-40 minutes. I did it!! I ran 3.1 miles in 32 minutes 15 seconds! It was a really cool experience and such a great accomplishment to have beat my expectations! (before) It was AMAZING because the run was put on by River of Life Mission, which is a Christian organization that helps to feed and love on the hungry and homeless on Oahu. There was prayer beforehand and worship music playing during the race - How cool is that?!?! I found a girl to take my and Ashley's before and after photos on her phone ;) As Hebrews says, "Run with endurance the race that is set before us..."  Finished!!! (and TIRED!)

baby byrd baby shower

Image
Last Saturday, I helped to put together a baby shower for my new friend Laura Byrd. While she was telling me that some of her husband's co-workers started calling her "mama bird", I immediately started scheming and planning a "baby byrd" shower. So, here it is! The preparation... (one of my favorite parts? The iced coffee bar of course!! here are the clean and dirty spoons for coffee and tea.) Let the party begin! "Sweet treats for your flight home"  Had such a great time with this great group of ladies. And I MUST send a big shout out to three of my party consultants who helped me, quite strategically, execute: Mama Bird J  my party planning hero , Bethany "tell me like it is" Kas , and Jess 'the Corn' King . Could not (would not) have done it without you!! Fun food, fun company, fun party all around! ~~~~~~~ Post Script: Allow me to introduce to you the  Chocolate-covered Marshmellow Cookie .  I sa...

My heart is out at sea

Image
Today is our first day or radio silence...but I was getting so used to being able to hear his voice! Man do I love him. It is love that carries me through these times - God's love for me and how radical that is, then the love he has given me for this Salty Sailor. I am excited for what lies ahead for both of us in the next few weeks and months!! So it is with a small smile that I say... My heart is out at sea.

a hike with Ashley

Image
I got to hang out with my friend Ashley this past Saturday. We went on a hike; not just any 'hike', but Koko head Crater. I rather refer to this as 'Nature's Stairmaster'... Here we are at the top - glad to have made it! Here is the view from the top - pretty awesome... yeah...here is the hill we came up.It makes me dizzy looking at it - I made it up that thing!! Now, if I may, to give you a better idea, here is where we started:   I was so proud I did it!! (can you imagine what your thighs and butt would look like if you did that every week??!!?? I'm just sayin')
