Our First Thanksgiving

Image
The finished product. How amazing are those flowers! Nick found them on a nearby tree and knew they would go perfectly on our table. We were blessed to have people come over to our house for Thanksgiving. Two guys who work on the Jarvis with Nick and a girl I met at church with her two roommates. 7 people around our table and 7 sides to complement the turkey :) Shelly - I am so thankful that you gave me your Sweet Potato recipe! Aunt Lisa that Pecan Pie was the perfect dessert! And Grandma Hargrove saved the day with the gravy :D it came out perfectly! Our Thanksgiving was wonderful. We had lots and lots of food - I have already frozen some of the turkey because we have so much left over! We love you all so, so much. ...next post...Christmas tree adventures! PS: Thanksgiving leftovers that we have eaten so far: 1) turkey quesadillas 2) Creamy turkey and rice soup 3) Mashed potato pancakes, a Hargrove creation and Nick's favorite - SO yummy!

Maui Wowwee

We are so blessed and so thankful! Nick and I were able to go to Maui this past weekend. We had such a great weekend away from home and we wanted to share some pictures! This is the view from our hotel room (we got upgraded to one with a slight ocean view!!) We drove up to the top of the volcano, Haleakala, and were 10,023 feet above the sea. It was 56 degrees up there and I was cold! Maui is the only island that has a Krisy Kreme! So Nick bought two boxes to take back with us to Oahu (He took them to the guys who were working on the Jarvis that night :) By the time we finished the 2 hour drive up and down the volcano, you would have thought we would have hit something with all these "warning" signs! The cattle and Nene have their freedom :) YES He is!!

The Life Aquatic

Today Becky and I had a blast at the water park just down the road from our house. It seems sort of funny spending a day there when you have some of the world best beaches in your back yard. Never the less admission was free for military members, so what the heck!!! We originally planned to stay only a few hours and then bail for the beach, but we were having so much fun we ended up staying the whole day. The fun ride! The not so fun ride!

the last few weekends

Hi there! The last few weekends Nick and I have been doing all sorts of things; camping, grilling, painting, cleaning, driving and shopping (well, that was me this Saturday) :). Nick has duty today, when stays on the boat overnight,  so I had some extra time to sit down and upload some pictures!  I want to tell you all what has been occupying some of my planning and thoughts. I am extremely excited to be hosting Thanksgiving at our house. Nick and I both cannot wait to try it! We have invited two girls we met at our church (who are from Santa Barbara) to come over and share it with us!  So now that we are hosting an official dinner, I have begun to plan and prep. Dinner Tonight is a blog that I check for recipes, from the makers of Everyday Food/Martha Stewart. I checked it a few days ago and the post was " First Thanksgiving: Equipment " (click to view the post). It was perfect for me! So today, I headed to Macy's to get some cookware/ bakeware to help me with a Thanks...
