More like a mountain climb
Nick and I were so blessed with a wonderful last week together. One part of that happened on Wednesday. We got up and has some breakfast, then he turned to me and said, "Babe, let's go for a hike!"
We got our gear on and jumped in the Tacoma. Nick had talked about a hike he went on with some people from work a few weeks ago. He described it, "you are walking on a 2 foot wide path with shear cliff on either side" - and he wasn't kidding! As we drove to the East side of the island, Nick pointed to the cliff we would be climbing!
We park a 3-minute walk away from the entrance to this country club. The man at the gate waved us right in, he must of known where we were headed. You follow the paved road until you see an opening into the forest to your left.
It is like we transported into the middle of Cambodia or Indonesia. Green trees cover over you as you walk down the path of red clay dirt. We first come upon this abandoned house/bunker.

Then, about half way up, you come across a small patch of pine trees!

We keep pushing onward - some places there were ropes tied to tree trunks to help you get to the top!

It's a good thing I am only 5'2 and a half...

That is Nick looking back down on the Pine tree patch that we walked through earlier (the patch of dark green trees there). That is how high we got!
Nick took a lot of amazing pictures, but here is one that is a favorite of mine...we might put this one on our wall!
On our way down the mountain, we decided we could not call this hike, but a mountain climb. I love it!
