Adventures in the Lord

So, this weekend was quite eventful here on the islands. Praise the God of the Heavens and Earth for sparing us a true disaster.  I was warned by multiple friends of the coming tsunami warnings, was called multiple times the morning of and had a neighbor knock to make sure I knew what was happening :). Up at 4, packed and left the house by 5, heading to higher ground.  All in all, I did learn a few things... to remember tooth paste next time :) At church this morning, our pastor reminded me that the Bible tells us that earthquakes will happen as we near the end. It is interesting that the Coast Guard's latin moto is "Sempar Paratus", Always Ready.  The Lord has reminded me that we are to always be ready.  "For this reason you also must be ready ; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will."  - Matthew 24:44 "Preach the word; be ready   in season and out of season" - 2Timothy 4:2 "but sanctify Christ as Lord in y...

(picture taken by Aubrei)   Little did I know that a trip 5 years ago would change my life forever. I met Julia for the first time in a Chevy Suburban on the few day drive to Houston Texas! These are a few pictures of my first memories of her... (after looking through these pictures I am going to HAVE to do a post on Houston!) How cool that our first meeting we were serving the Lord together...What a story the Lord has given us! ~Love you Julia~

On a walk today around our neighborhood. Heavy with prayer, yet uplifted with expectant anticipation. And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance;   and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. - Romans 5

Nicolas is a wonderful husband (and this post is really mostly for him :] ). The last few months the Jeep has been in need of a little extra love.  Nick went in and installed a new card/piece/thing under the dashboard so the AC would work again. Then he had to reattached the rearview mirror (which had fallen off the windshield).  Jeep also had a case of "the wobbles" as I like to call them. Right at 55 MPH, it would wobble like you were driving over a whole lane full of  rumble strips. So he went and had some new tires ordered! I got to go get them on today. bon voy·age (bôN vwä-yäzh) interj. Used to express farewell and good wishes to a departing traveler. Yes, today I bid farewell to my loving and salty sailor husband. A new patrol, certain to be filled with new places, new sights, and new adventures. I was very encouraged as I pulled away from the ship this morning - my heart was filled with excitement and joy in the unknown. Excited to see what the Lord has in store in these next few weeks. A few of these words echoed in my head as they were brought to remembrance this afternoon...
