Pictures from the last few weeks

Alright! So it is time to catch you up with some pictures. I realize that I still had not uploaded pictures from New Year's Eve! and what an adventure that was. In order to try and give you a glimpse of what New Year's in Hawaii is like, I have put up a video. Keep in mind it was like that non-stop from about 8pm - midnight! This is Nick excited for the Fireworks - Actually I think this face was made because our little 2 year old friend Reiko was trying to take the picture. This is me and Reiko playing with the camera :) *Adjust your volume before playing this, it is pretty loud!* Here are some of the may fireworks! This is Nick taking me out to dinner at California Pizza Kitchen a couple days before the Jarvis went underway. The Lord continues to provide amazing events for me to attend and things to do while Nick is gone. He just provides for me in supernatural ways...2 weekends ago a friend of mine from Santa Barbara came to Oahu to help her friend with her wedding! So I got ...

Aloha Alaska

Nick heads off to Dutch Harbor today. He has been in Kodiak since Wednesday so I was able to talk to him on the phone (He gets cell service in Kodiak, but no where else). It was really great to be able to talk to him the last two days, but was hard to say goodbye last night. It is around 30 degrees on the ground in Dutch (which means it is much colder on the boat), but that is still warmer than most of the mid-west! My mom says she prays for Nick every time it gets below zero :) I am grateful that my mom-in-love took pictures when she got to see Nick in San Francisco. I keep looking at them over and over...just wanted to share them with you :) (I love pictures of Nick with a camera) Well, we are about 20 days down. I hope the next 20 go just as fast! This is a picture from Christmas day, when Meem, Nick and I got to go and play around the island. It was a Christmas day that will always be etched in my mind. I am forever grateful for that week we had all together. M is a pretty good ...

Another week down

Hello there! Another week has gone by. Nick and the ship are now up in Alaskan waters. Just to note - I was reminded that the details of the ships location is somewhat confidential. We are not supposed to announce or talk about their location. Only to our close family and friends, which you are :) Nick sounds like he is in better spirits this time than he was when they first found out about their change in route. I wanted to share a funny story from Nick. This past December Nick and I went to our friends' house for a Cheesy Christmas Sweater party (and I posted a picture a few weeks ago if you are interested). When we wives found out we were to put together a box of warm clothes to send to our husbands, Aubri and I thought it would be funny to send them their cheesy sweaters from the party. Nick's sweater was wool and would be warm, and we hoped it would give them a laugh. Nick said he was really glad I sent it :) Then, I got an email from Nick a few days ago saying that every...

Following you Lord.

Wow - so a lot has happened since I last posted! and I realize it has only been 7 days. We found out Friday that Nick's boat is being redirected to Alaska. Now, this news brings about a flurry of feelings, which I will explain here: 1 - Bummer!! They were planning on going to the South Pacific where it is warm, where there is fresh Mexican food and good surf! The Bering Sea in the dead of winter is pretty close to a death wish, freezing temperatures, violent seas, and no direct sun light for days at a time. 2 - THE LORD is in control. This change in route is not a surprise to Him. He is the one who will protect this boat no matter where it goes. 3 - This is definitely the making of an Adventure with the Lord :) There will be many stories to tell... So, with the combination of those three, I put together a box of warm weather clothes for Nick on Saturday and the Coast Guard shipped it (along with boxes from all the other wives and families) to the boat. This is a crazy turn of even...

And they're off.

The Jarvis is officially underway and is half way across the Pacific from Hawaii to the mainland. I heard from Nick yesterday and heard that they were pushing through 8-10 foot swells and that most of the guys on the boat had gotten sea sick! :( The seas have calmed and it seems their Sea Legs are a bit stronger now. I cannot believe that Nick is underway again - I cannot believe that Christmas already came and went! Nick and I had the most amazing first Christmas and New Years'. I am incredibly grateful for these last few months we had together!! The Lord has been blessing me with so many little encouragements since Nick left. I am so thankful that He has filled my time with other ladies whose husbands are gone and times of peace and calm in our house. He is so Faithful to provide and take care of me! I was so excited to get Martha Stewart's new cook book "cooking school" from Nick for Christmas. I love reading it and learning new techniques. The other night I was fe...

Another new season

Image
Another new season has begun for Nick and I this January first. Nick is scheduled to go underway on the Jarvis this coming Saturday, January 3rd. I will be posting more on that in the coming days I am sure. But right now, all I can think of is how blessed we have been with the most FUN memories! The last 2 weeks have been filled with so much joy and laughter and I am so Thankful to God for each one of them!! Having my sis-in-love here with us for Christmas was a huge encouragement to us. Man do we love her. So much happened in those 7 days - I can share more of those stories later. The most recent memory-maker was last night, New Year's Eve. We celebrated with our friends, the Acosta's. Oahu treats New Year's Eve like nothing Nick and I have ever experienced. Fireworks are legal here and Everyone buys them! It felt like we were in a war zone! We are driving on the freeway seeing blasts to the left and right sides while listening to the BBC news radio tell us about Israel b...
