Nature's Kitchen - Chapter 2

Here is my summary of chapter 2 from the book, Nature's Kitchen . Chapter 2: Total Health - A Heritage of the Lord In Chapter 2 the author admits that one cannot attain total health without taking the time to look at and evaluate our relationship with Jesus and the importance of God’s word in our lives. He desires for us to be healthy! We need to care for our temple – 2 Corinthians 6:19 – 20 We should seek Jesus in this area! Here are three questions they ask to get you thinking about how you are taking care of yourself. These really stuck out to me. Just how are you caring for the temple God has entrusted to you? 1) Are you getting adequate rest? 2) Are you exercising enough to keep your muscles and organs functioning properly? 3) Are y...

It is so interesting how much nutritional and health information is coming my way after posting Nature's Kitchen last week! I had my first appointment with a Chiropractor last week. I have been having some discomfort and Nick has encouraged me to find a Chiropractor because he has gone since he was young and has seen how much they help. I made an appointment with Dr. Tuttle of New Life Chiropractic. I had heard an advertisement for them on the christian radio station here and thought I would check it out. It was an incredible experience working with a Doctor who has a Biblical perspective! He talked to me about his practice not being a place just to relieve back pain or headaches, but to get the body aligned so it can properly and naturally heal itself! After my first appointment, he sent me home with a DVD to watch with more information. I just finished watching it and HAD to blog some of his points. This is what stuck out to me - some of it was a little scary to hear! - Sugar in ...

Nature's Kitchen: 1st Post!

Image
Hi there! I have decided that I am going to start posting a summary on each chapter in my new favorite book, Nature’s Kitchen. Each week (or so) I will post a summary of that week’s chapter and then pose some questions for you and I to answer and start some discussion. I am so excited because I have been learning so much about diet, health, and overall well-being a lot in the past year and this book really is a culmination of those discussions with scripture to back it up! I want you all to know – I am still learning J I feel like I have just scratched the surface of this whole conversation. Please plan to join us here each week for the discussion and I want your comments and personal experiences! I want to learn from all of you. Here is the introduction to the book. I wanted to post it here in case you wanted to read it and learn more about the authors' perspectives (Click on the picture to make it bigger and more readable). It might get a little wordy, but pull up a chair,...

Saturday fun and a Great Cookbook!

Hi All! I had a fun Saturday and I wanted to share. This morning I went to a Coast Guard Spouse Association Tea; a bunch of Coast Guard wives get-together. It was at the home of the District 14's Admiral! (District 14 is all Coast Guard stations in the Hawaiian island and Guam) I learned that each CG Admiral lives in this same house - when their billet is up, the next Admiral moves in. The best part...they live with the Diamond Head Light house in their backyard! It was so beautiful! I will let the pictures tell the rest. hehe - here is me in the car on the way there! (took this with Nick in mind - Hope you can check the blog from the boat honey!!!) Walking through their front gate. Picture yourself looking out your kitchen window...and seeing this! This is Admiral Brown talking with all of us. He talked about what an integral part the wives are to those serving out at sea - It was nice to hear from him. There were about 60 other women there - Go coastie wives! ...
