Following you Lord.
Wow - so a lot has happened since I last posted! and I realize it has only been 7 days.
1 - Bummer!! They were planning on going to the South Pacific where it is warm, where there is fresh Mexican food and good surf! The Bering Sea in the dead of winter is pretty close to a death wish, freezing temperatures, violent seas, and no direct sun light for days at a time.
2 - THE LORD is in control. This change in route is not a surprise to Him. He is the one who will protect this boat no matter where it goes.
3 - This is definitely the making of an Adventure with the Lord :) There will be many stories to tell...
So, with the combination of those three, I put together a box of warm weather clothes for Nick on Saturday and the Coast Guard shipped it (along with boxes from all the other wives and families) to the boat.
This is a crazy turn of events and it really has effected the crew. Nick said it felt like a cloud was hovering over the boat when they found out. The thoughts of sunshine and surf were so close :( and now they are going in the opposite directrion. So please pray for them - Please pray for Nick that he would supernaturally be encouraged. We have both been praying that the Lord would increase our faith, child-like faith that can move mountains! We trust the Lord is going to use this for good somehow!
>On a side note, we have learned to never hold our breath with the Coast Guard :) So who knows...they may get to go south! :) We will just have to wait and see.
One sweet thing and added bonus...the boat stopped to refuel in Northern CA today and Nick got to see his family!! They drove up there in faith, believing that the Lord would make a way. They got to see him only for a few hours today, but I hope it was a sweet time for them (they have not seen Nick since we got married! 8 or so months ago). Tomorrow the Jarvis will head North. As much as I am a little disheartened, I am excited to discover the unknown adventures that lie ahead...

We found out Friday that Nick's boat is being redirected to Alaska.

Becky and Nick - It's times like these that I would cry a good cry for my husband but encourage him with a smile on my face. You have both learned quickly that nothing in the Coast Guard is ever set in stone. It's awesome that you can look at it as an adventure. That's how we have had to live our lives in the Coast Guard in order to stay sane, lol! It's SO GREAT that Nick got to see his family!!
ReplyDeleteyou wrote my feelings exactly... to see Nick yesterday was so wonderful but sooo hard, with all my might i had to keep from crying the whole time!! We will keep praying for protection and a time of growth for all of us.
