Shopping in Hawaii...

When we first moved into our little house, we needed some basic groshries so we said "hey let's just run to the closest Groshery store and get some stuff". So we went. We spent $59.87. Things are expensive here...Below is a photo of all that we got for 60 bucks.


Yup, that is all we got. 60 dollars. Note the Locals sandals and the Indiana Jones cereal...staple items :)
Oh, and for those of you who didnt believe it, here is a picture of the Milk prices!


So the Original price was $8.99, marked down to $6.49. Ha!

Now, having done that - We got smart! Nick took me to the Military Exchange (where Military people can buy grosheries at mainland prices and sometimes better). It is like the Disneyland of shopping!! I felt like a kid in a candy store :) I wanted to stay for hours and Nick was ready to go in 30 mins. AND They carry the same Mochi product that Trader Joes does!! A little piece of home.

ok - NOW fast forward to this past weekend. Saturday, Nick got his Hawaiian plates for the truck!


Then Saturday afternoon we went to get a mattress from Costco! We were so excited, until we realized it would not really fit in the car...


...So Nick went in a bought this really cool set of tie-downs to make sure our new mattress didn't fall off on the 40 min drive home. 


My husband is Amazing!!

    SOOO COOL... Ya groceries are super expensive there.. my mom whines about it all the time... seems like you guys are having so much fun though.. miss you! Can't wait to come and visit...

    You did not pay almost 60 bucks for groceries!! that made me feel almost appreciative of what we pay here for food! :)
    Nick is pretty darn clever and of course a guy loves any excuse to buy tools! What a good wife you are!
    aaaww look at your bedroom! soon and very soon all your belongings will be sent over the sea!
    Can't wait to see more pics of your house!

All of our belongings arrived this morning! We have it all! Big truck, three huge crates and a team of 5 showed up on the doorstep at 8:45 AM this morning. They must have thought I was weird - as each item came through the door I got the hugest smile! The Best Things In Life Are For Free

Well not completely free, actually this chair was $2.00 at a garage sale down the street, and the paint was $10.00 at the Home Depot. the cool life ring we found in the dumpster, and its from a Panamanian Ship, so really it is the only thing that was for free. so all together I guess $12.00 is not so bad for a little beach flare around the house. The drift wood and coral were free! Here you go Mom just like I promised, my newly reorganized closet.
